2013 Candidates' Responses to the PAGE BC Survey
Thank you to the Candidates for the BCTF Executive Committee for participating in our survey. PAGE BC appreciates the time and thought that each candidate put into his/her responses. If you missed following along before the election you can catch up on our 2013 Candidates' Responses page.
Congratulations to the new EC Elect and thank you to the previous members who have worked tirelessly for the BCTF. Susan Lambert in particular deserves special acknowledgement as outgoing President of the BCTF. We at PAGE have valued her support for our work for Social Justice.
If you didn't attend, you missed a great party!
On Saturday, February 23, PAGE BC held the 3rd Annual Winter Party at Eternal Abundance Cafe on Commercial Drive in Vancouver. It was an opportunity for old and new members to mingle and chat over some healthy and delicious food. Guests speakers included David Eby, NDP candidate for Vancouver-Point Grey and former Executive Director of the BC Civil Liberties Association as well as Glen Hansman, 2nd Vice President to the BCTF. Glen is running as the candidate for 1st Vice President for the 2013/14 BCTF Executive Committee at the AGM in March.
Also in attendance, Denise Moffatt, currently BCTF Executive Committee Member-at-Large and candidate for 2nd Vice President for the 2013/14 BCTF Executive Committee and Gail Chaddock-Costello, candidate for Member-at-Large for the 2013/14 BCTF Executive Committee. Those in attendance also met our new journal Editor, Shanee Prasad. Music was provided by Clarity the Rock Harpist.
We would like to thank all of our speakers, our entertainer, our BCTF Executive Committee candidates and our members and supporters for coming and making the party a success.
Bob Peterson
"We all care about people, especially children. We teach because we care but we have to recognize that in a class stratified and racially divided world in which we live, we have to do more than care. We have to teach and organize for social justice." ~ Bob Peterson
This video of Bob Peterson's speech at the BCTF on Monday January 28th, uploaded by the BCTF, is very inspiring. Bob Peterson is a teacher, activist and founding editor of Rethinking Schools. The video is a "must see" for all teachers.
